Passed away, at his home, on Thursday, December 1, 2016.

Survived by his three sons, Bernard “Bernie” L. Fredericks III, of Joliet, IL, Matthew Fredericks of Richmond, IL. and Jordan Fredericks of Round Lake, IL; his daughters Rachel (Joseph) Crocher of Bristol, WI; and Sarah (Jon) Bender of Antioch, IL; sister Susan (nee Fredericks) Stechalski; brother Dennis (Sue) Fredericks of Apache Junction, AZ.; five grandchildren, Gabriella Fredericks, Penelope Fredericks, Emma and Quort Crocher and Leah Bender, many nieces and nephews, cousins, Aunts and Uncles.

Preceded in death by his parents Bernard Lee Sr. and Betty (nee Williams) Fredericks as well as his grandparents.

Bernie was stationed on the USS Nimitz during his time in the United States Navy Reserve. After his time in the USNR, Bernie learned carpentry trade and worked as a carpenter most of his adult life. He was very talented at what he did and took great pride in his work and craftsmanship. Bernie spent many summers at his family’s favorite campground Meneoka Beach Club. He enjoyed fishing and was an excellent grill-master. In his later years, Bernie always had projects he was working on. Whether it was home remodeling, gardening, or any other project that involved him building or creating something, he liked to keep busy. He spent his final years mostly living in Independence MO and occasionally Joliet, IL.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A Chapel Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with Full Military Honors at 12:30 PM.
