Joyce's Life

Joyce Marie Brown was born on May 7, 1944 in Joliet, Illinois to Orin and Florence Brown. Joyce grew up in Wilmington, Illinois with her brother, James Brown. Joyce attended Booth School and Wilmington High School, which she graduated from on June 5, 1963. She met her love to be, David Miner, at a radio CB club that they both belonged to. Joyce was in awe that David liked her so much they began dating. After they dated for sometime David proposed to her and they set a date of June 21, 1969, both at the age of 25. They were married by Pastor Frank at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Joliet, Illinois. They decided to make Joliet, Illinois their home. After almost five years of marriage Joyce was shocked to find out she was pregnant. On February 23, 1973 she gave birth to her only child, Lynda Miner, at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, Illinois. I say only child, not for the lack of trying, but it was apparently God's will to only give her one child. Joyce's daughter also grew up in Joliet, Illinois graduated Joliet West High School in 1991 and three years later gave Joyce and David a beautiful granddaughter on July 27, 1994. Kiara Denise Miner was the apple of both their eyes. Kiara grew up in the Wilmington area as well just like her grandma. Joyce had many struggles during her life one being her husband falling ill to diabetes and kidney failure. Joyce took care of him until his dying day on February 6, 2003 to a heart attack. She was devastated as was the whole family. Joyce remained as strong as she could during that time. Joyce however carried on never remarrying, enjoying her vacations with her daughter and granddaughter and close family friends. Joyce was always a giving and loving person throughout the remainder of her life. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her.
